"One order of loaded fries and a thick shake, please." 🍟🧋 "Do you want that to go?" If these words sound all-too-familiar to you, it's because they've come to represent an intrinsic part of one of America's most enduring cultural symbols—the diner. A derivative of 'dining car', diners go all the way back to 1870s Rhode Island, where the first of its kind took shape, when Walter Scott, an entrepreneur, repurposed a horse-pulled wagon into a car that dished out simple food to late-night workers. From 'lunch wagon' to 'nite owls', the diner had many names before Patrick Tierney popularised the abbreviated term 'diner' and Jerry Mahoney set up the first stationary diner of its kind in New Jersey in 1913—the state that, today, is famously referred to as the diner capital of the world, housing a whopping 600 diners. Join us every Friday night, for our #FridayNightDinerDinner series, as part of which we'll be breaking down what goes on behind the Formica counters and leather seating booths of the all-American diner, serving up generous helpings of diner favourites...and some fun facts and trivia to go with! Stay tuned. #Diner #AmericanDiner #DinerFood #LoadedFries #FrenchFries #Milkshake #TheUnitedTastesOfAmerica #Food #Foodstagram #InstaFood #Foodies #FoodLover #EatingForTheInsta #GoodFood #GoodFoodGoodMood

We're just standing in front of this heavenly malai chini toast, thanking it for blessing our feeds and humbly asking for it to magically get in our bellies. As we turn the corner to celebrate Diwali, there's no better time to revisit this Bengali icon, the earliest crumbs of which can be traced to the bylanes of colonial Calcutta's chai gully. In fact, thanks for this invention can largely be attributed to the British, who opened our eyes (and stomachs) to the art of sliced bread layered with butter. Today, it's safe to say that childhood nostalgia doesn't come sweeter than a bed of warm toasted bread blanketed in smooth, luscious clotted cream that's been slathered on all-too-generously and topped off sparkly caramelised sugar crystals (you may send those sprinkling credits Salt Bae's way, if you please). Best enjoyed with a cup of piping hot tea this time of the year, when the mercury plummets and wintry aromas fill the air. What's your go-to nostalgic nosh during festive season? We'd love to know, so drop your answers in the comments below! #Food #FoodBlogFeed #InstaFood #FoodFoodFood #Foodstagram #FoodLover #FoodLove #FoodOfTheDay #EatingForTheInsta #ReelItFeelIt #FoodReels

Pop it like it's a cork! Because it is. Get it? Cheesy pun out of the way, it's time to introduce you to this extremely fine bottle of G.H.Mumm Champagne, just in time for festive celebrations. With a legacy spanning close to two centuries, today, the iconic Champagne house, based in Reims, France, is instantly identifiable by its inimitable red ribbon—the Cordon Rouge (symbolic of the red sash of the Grand Cross and a tribute to the Légion d'Honneur, or France's highest civilian award)—which is a striking reminder of the Maison's motto, 'Only the best', and is synonymous with celebrations and good times. This particular bubbly celebrates the richness, plumpness, and elegance of the Pinot Noir grape, with a fruity scent that flaunts notes of lychee and pineapple underpinned with hints of praline, and boasts a creamy, delightfully effervescent finish. Speaking of which.... Would you believe that up until the 17th century, winemakers considered bubbles in wine a defect? Fortunately, they were proven wrong because today, Champagne is considered the perfect drink to blow off steam. Why? Because it knows what it's like to be under pressure! So, if Diwali's come early for you, like it has for us, go ahead and pop open this beaut and enjoy it alongside your favourite soft cheeses, fruits, and even salads. Let those good times flow, and flow freely! But never forget to drink responsibly. Cheers! G.H.Mumm Champagne is available at TheCellar@Foodhall at Palladium and Linking Road in Mumbai, and 1MG in Bengaluru. #Champagne #PinotNoir #ChampagneLover #ChampagneTasting #ChampagneMoments #WineWednesday #WineWineWine #WineLovers #WineTime

Fun fact: The Indian cricket team has won all five of its T20 matches against the Pakistani cricket team. Not-so-fun fact: It's been two full years since India has played Pakistan in an edge-of-seat thriller. Let that sink in, unsavoury though it might be. Today, we're taking you #ToTheStreets of Singapore 🇸🇬 Known for a variety of Hawker Stalls across the land, Singapore is a bustling collection of food inspired from neighbouring countries and cultures. 75 Ah Balling Peanut Soup (@75ahballing) was founded in 1942 and is widely popular today for their glutinous rice balls served in a sweet soup, also known as tang yuan. The next time you get a chance to visit the Lion City, don't forget to stop by this UNESCO recognised Hawker Centre and say hello to Alvin and his family. For now, here's a recipe for you to try and recreate this Singapore favourite at home: -250g Raw peanuts, peeled and halved -1 ltr water -200ml unsweetened soy milk -150g sugar -12 pc rice balls 1. Rinse and soak the peanuts in water for 2 hours. Drain and replace with clean water and soak for another 20 min 2. Bring a pot of water to a boil and then add the peanuts. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil again 3. Bring the liquid to a simmer and cook for approx 2 hours until the peanuts are soft. Add the soy milk and sugar and dissolve 4. Increase the flame to medium, add the rice balls and gently stir. Serve hot What's your fondest memory of eating in #Singapore?
